Also unlike other body swap films, Inside Me spends most of its time in that fun zone as the film revels in the time spent during its hilariously awkward scenarios rather than in a mad dash to “break the curse” as many of these body/soul swapping films seem to do. The way in which the relationships between the protagonists of Inside Me develop take surprising twists and turns that will make you want to applaud its writers who brought us other fun original films like Mapado: Island of Fortunes (2005) and The Art of Fighting (2005). The great thing about the story of Inside Me is that despite its familiar formula, there are so many ways in which the film makes these tried and true conventions of the body swap genre its own.

THE DUDE IN ME MOVIE

Even Korean films have seen their fair share of body swap films with the likes of The Beauty Inside (2015) and the identity swapping comedy movie Luck-Key (2016). For I nside Me, Pan-su (Park Sung-woong), the powerful boss of an organized crime gang, think something along the lines of a Mafioso or Yakuza type, swaps souls with a wimpy overweight high school boy named Dong-hyun (Jinyoung).

It’s your tried and true body/spirit swap gimmick a la Freaky Friday (2003). Review: Inside Me (or translated literally to The Dude In Me) is a new comedy drama film that puts an innovative spin on a familiar formula.

It is also interesting to watch actor Lee Jun-hyeok playing a rather competent subordinate instead of inept comical roles. Personally, I feel Ra Mi-ran is really lucky with have a long kiss scene with B1A4’s Jin-young 🤭. Only after Dong-hyun successfully slimmed down and had 6-pack abs did I recognize Jin-young as Jin-young.Īnother funny part is Pan-soo trying hard to make Mi-sun fall for him in Dong-hyun’s body, even kissed Mi-sun forcibly at a cafe. Initially, I did not recognise Jin-young playing the fat version of Dong-hyun, and had thought the role to be played by actor Lee Tae-ri. The funny scenes are from Pan-soo trying to move around with Dong-hyun’s fat tummy and never-ending food binge despite Pan-soo originally being health conscious. This comedy is rather funny to watch, although body-switching plot is nothing new in dramaland. Realizing that he still loved Mi-sun, Pan-soo decided to pursue Mi-ran, leading Hyun-jung to be confused as she thought that Dong-hyun liked her. Pan-soo also reunite with his first love Oh Mi-sun ( Ra Mi-ran) to find out that Hyun-jung was his daughter. When Pan-soo found out that Dong-hyun and Dong-hyun’s good friend Oh Hyun-jung ( Lee Soo-min) were frequently bullied in school, he got Hyun-jung to train martial arts to protect herself, and for Dong-hyun’s body reduce weight. Unable to return to his own body as his body was still in coma, Pan-soo had no choice but to impersonate as Dong-hyun with the help of his faithful subordinate Man Chul ( Lee Jun-hyeok). When Pan-soo woke up at the hospital, he found himself in Dong-hyun’s body. One day a high-school student Kim Dong-hyun ( Jung Jin-young) fell from a building and landed right on Pan-soo. Jang Pan-soo ( Park Sung-woong) is a gangster turned businessman, running the money-lending business which was actually owed by his father-in-law.
